A scooter ride that I missed!

I remember this hilarious incident about my husband when we were in Jamshedpur. When children went off to another city for higher studies, it was just me and him, and he and myself, the only people in the house.

Oh! what a bore, when children are not around! Time seemed to have stopped. My husband would be content to sit with a book in his hand, which was like a curtain between us! What to do with my time was my problem.

One day, I told him to take me to my brother's house which was not very nearby, which means we had to take the scooter. He agreed and we went to our scooter. Well, he started the scooter but Oh! God! before I could perch on the pillion seat, he drove off!!. He went all the way to my brother's place without missing me and found I was not there only after reaching the destination. He came back and we two had a hearty laugh. I think it happens with aging husbands ;)

where does the time go??

Thinking what to write in the blog, the time flies and day goes by..
Looking at the plants and watering them and pulling out the weeds, the time flies and the day goes by..
Talking to friends over the phone, time flies and the day goes by..
Gossiping with friends who come home, the time flies and the day goes by..
Reading the e-mails and replying to it, the time flies and the day goes by..
Sending children to school, cooking and going for a walk time flies, the day goes by..
Reading something to fill the brain, sleep takes its turn and the day goes by..

I wonder now..
How to catch the time and let it not fly,
Do some solid work, give it a try,
Can anyone please tell me how before the day ends and says good-bye!!

Lost and Found.. Keys!!

Losing keys seems to be a common practice! Everyone has done it at one point of time or other. What one feels when one loses the key of the house, the cupboard, the locker key? The first reaction is Oh! My God! What am i going to do now? The chain of thoughts that run into the mind is unaccountable. But once you get the key somehow or other, you become the hero lauding yourself saying I knew I'll get it!

I remember how my sister-in-law when she forgot where she kept her bank locker key for four long months. She searched the house and re-searched the house again and again. She made her niece, nephew, bhaiya, bhabhi search for it. She spent nights without sleep. You can imagine her joy when her son in US told her the key is safe in his house. Just imagine the distance between India and US.

Once my bank locker key was hiding under the cardboard base of my hand bag and took me days to find it out. I still remember my son when he was just 4 years old hiding our cupboard key under the bed. After a long stressful hunt he told innocently "Shall i tell you where it is.... it is under the bed!"

Its so interesting to flash back on those turbulent moments and feel happy about the lost and found incident. I am sure you also have a story to tell about the keys you lost!

What am I good at?

Thoughts do appear in my mind but never shape up to completion. I wonder why...

I saw Pushpa's lovely pencil sketch, and wished that I too could draw but lo I can't. My pen or pencil draws alphabets and nothing more than that!

I heard some lovely music and I wished so much that I could sing but my voice was good for yapping and of course yelling at times.

I heard a spiritual discourse that was so soothing. I hoped that I could also exhibit something like that but guess what, that needed a lot of study and reading! I surely like reading but then I get sound sleep when I take a book.

I watched my friend cook, she manipulated what was available to 4 extra people who suddenly appeared from nowhere. I was amazed and thought that I too will try and ended up with something that looked good but not for taste.

Oh! my God, I'm not good at anything that I wished for!!

But then I realised though I'm not good at anything that I wished for I'm surely good at listening to others and appreciating their work.God bless me!

interesting incident - wrong train!

This happened not very long ago. My neighbor was transfered to Kharagpur. Their household stuff was to be transported by a truck. The truck was loaded and my neighbor's son accompanied by my son travelled in the truck to help unload the things in Kharagpur.

After the unloading was done, these boys came to the station to get back to Jamshedpur. The two got into the train waiting at the station and were busy chatting. The train started moving, and after few minutes the two realised that  the train was moving towards Calcutta and not Jamshedpur! Nobody could help them because the train would stop next only at Calcutta. The boys had no option but to travel in that direction. They alighted at Calcutta and waited for the Jamshedpur train. This time, they carefully boarded the train after checking and safely returned to Jamshedpur. The crowning part of it was - they both travelled with  the Kharagpur to Jamshedpur ticket all through but via Calcutta!

Patience

what is the meaning of patience?

is it waiting for the doctor at his clinic till he calls you?
is it sitting with your child who cries for candy, which is forbidden?
is it waiting for a guest who is very late to arrive?
is it listening to a long  lecture of a speaker, who holds on to the microphone never to leave it?
is it taking care of the mother who is bedridden?

the one who overcomes all this is not a man but God!

unforgettable incident - waiting for auto!

It was in 2000 june. We were going to Delhi to attend a wedding. Our train time was morning 6 o'clock. We were to leave the house at 5o'clock and had told two auto rickshaws to pick us as we were 7 members.
The rain started the previous night and continued the next day too. All 7 of us got up early morning and were ready by 4.45 am waiting for the auto. The autos did  not turn up. The drivers coolly forgot!! My husband and son went out in the pouring rain to find another auto, but they could not get one, They had  to walk quite a distance and then they suceeded to get one who was returning from station leaving folks who were to travel in the same train as us!!

All of us squashed ourselves into  the auto with our luggage and reached the station in spite of the heavy downpour. We did reach late, but the train was late too!! And so we could proceed!
